IRC Open League 2018

What is IRC Open League ?

IRC League is in its ninth year of challenging young and creative minds to solve a problem that affects our society. IRC League invites students, coaches and all stakeholders of the society to come together and build a better world for tomorrow using the tools of Science and Technology.

This year's theme of IRC Open League is to promote the concept of "R-ME (Robots in Missions and Expeditions)". You can form a team of four along with your friends (of relevant age group - check out eligibility for the same) and an IRC Coach (of 18 years and above). In the open league, the team members are not limited to one school and can be from any school.

Why you should participate ?

You should participate because designing Robots to solve a certain problem statement can be tremendous amount of fun in itself - forget the bonding that happens with your teammates. You end up falling in love with Science and Technology - and rest assured you will have a good shot at being the next Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg. Last but not the least, you and your team will win a sponsored trip to an International Location.

Background

India, like any other third world country, has reduced itself into a consumer of the Corporations of the Developed World. The pecking order of world today is such that all the third world countries represent only numbers and consumers with a limited or no will of their own.

The clothes we wear, the food we eat, the cars we drive, the phones we use are all conceived, created and produced by an American or a European company with an ethos which is not fundamentally ours.

We have accepted this as the present, but, are we ready to accept this as a future for our children - do we want our children to grow in a environment which does not innovate, does not persist does not create - at least Avishkaar Box (A pioneer in Experiential Learning) does not agree with the current scheme of things and presses change.

With this thought as our driving force, we have launched the IRC Open League - a league that aims to celebrate Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and make innovation an area of passion for the young minds of the developing world.

Vision of IRC Open League

The League aims to become a source of inspiration and motivation for young minds to consciously take up careers in the domains of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) with a clear aim to innovate and thereby shape the future.

The league shall capture the attention of young minds by giving them problems and challenges that not only stretch their imagination but also are burning issues.

The current focus of the league would be to establish itself as the biggest STEM competition in India, however, in the longer run we would like to take this experience of challenging young minds to other developing nations as well.
